In week 2 of my future artifact, which is my second project looking into the future of menstrual products, I created many, many mood boards, to narrow my concept and gather inspiration for my prototype.
I created mood boards in correlation to my three concepts I chose last week:
- Realistic advertisement
- Packaging catered for non-female identifying menstruators
- Universal label that rates the 'health' of products

After creating the mood boards, and brainstorming further, I decided to go with my second choice; Packaging catered for non-female identifying menstruators, as I felt it had the most potential. When doing interviews for project one of this course, almost everyone I talked to brought up the factor of not all females menstruate, and not all who menstruate are females. I hadn't thought about this till then, and I have not heard any of my peers ever talk about it, so I felt it was a concept that could be explored, and needs to be explored.
Final Chosen Concept
Packaging catered for non-female identifying menstruators.
I then created three more mood boards in relation to my chosen concept to help pick out aesthetics, and gather inspiration. I also found words that correlated with the pictures I found.

I don't want to go with these packaging ideas as I feel that there are stereotypes around the LGBTQ+ community of exaggeration which I don't want to apply to my packaging.

I would like to incorporate these two ideas together, sleek, classic packaging with sustainable packaging as I think sleek packaging is timeless, and sustainability is an increasing trend within packaging.
In the next week I will sketch ideas and finalize a prototype.
